The crew from Social Body Lab and game:play lab along with DMG organized another Textile Game Controller workshop – this time, no screens!
In this workshop, we shared how to make a hardware-only game using a microcontroller and electronic components. We used electronic textile materials and soft circuit techniques to create a fully working Simon-style game. Each participant took home their own sewn game at the end of the workshop.
This workshop required no previous experience with Arduino, electronics, sewing, or games.
Participants were taught various embroidery stitches using conductive thread and embroidery floss to create the buttons for the game “Simon”. Each participant sewed an Adafruit Circuit Playground Classic onto fabric and created their own design for the Simon buttons.
Here are the instructional slides from the workshop.
